Francisco Boeijen (NL), painter, Antwerp

“After finishing high school I gave myself a break and decided to gain some life experience by travelling. I’m still saving up money to do so. I want to be inspired by the things I see during my journey, more than to be inspired by other artists.

My style is best categorised in abstract expressionism, but I’m only 20 years old, so it’s continuously evolving. Surrounding myself with beauty and discovering new things will make the best out of that evolution – rather than sitting on a school bench. I’ll have plenty of time do that whenever I get back.

My grandfather was a sculptor and my mom was a painter, so my family tends to understand my weird view on everything; and my impulsive decisions. However, I don’t think they would have minded if my tattoos had turned out smaller.”
