Geert Van Hertum (BE), photographer, Lommel
“One of my biggest influences has been Wes Anderson, the film director. “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” is just genius. His work was an eye-opener: his composition, colours… it’s outstanding.
I photograph architecture and interiors, zoos, theme parks and streetviews. I like to play with the boundaries between what is real and what is fake. Sometimes I create fictional pictures too, with elements from different places. One of my favourite places is the city of Luxemburg. It’s very photogenic city. Like a boring and empty Disneyland. I love it.
My very first tattoo must be 10 years old now. I immediately had a few done. Nobody knew, because they were on my legs. Only much later I got tattoos on more visible places of my body. Most of the time I go to Ruben Ramos, from Crooked Tattoos in Rotterdam in Holland.”
