Nicandro Lorenzo Visser (NL), Chef, Amsterdam

“My tattoos are a collection of things I like, I guess. Things that inspire me, or just things I want to pay tribute to, like Steamboat Willy. That was Walt Disney’s first cartoon ever; I simply got it because I love cartoons. I also have a Winston Churchill-tattoo, because he’s a badass motherfucker. During WWII, when he was prime minister, he decided to take that press photo while holding a Tommy Gun. He’s crazy, but I think that’s dope.

One day I’d like to pay tribute to Amsterdam’s canals with a tattoo. I have a couple tattoos dedicated to my favourite city, but there’s always room for more. For other people, my mixture of weird tattoos might look like something random, but I’ve put a lot of thought into them. For example, 138 was the number on the door of the house my friends and I rented when I first moved out of my parents house. That’s a memory to be cherished. But then again, some of the tattoos are meaningless. I mean, there’s a box of Kleenex right there!”
